This pie. This Easy Banoffee Cream Pie. Light, fluffy, and deeply banana-forward with a rich toffee layer — it’s a dreamy combination of banana, dulce de leche, cream cheese and whipped cream.

Banoffee pie has been on my radar for a long time: a classic British dessert made from banana, toffee and usually a coffee-scented cream. I’d tasted the flavors in other forms — cupcakes or cookies — but never made the pie itself until now. What finally pushed me to try it was a craving for banana cream and a recent video of banana cream pie cupcakes that reminded me how much I love banana-and-cream desserts.

Traditional banoffee (often spelled Banoffi in its original form) features a crust, a layer of caramelized sweetened condensed milk (dulce de leche), banana slices and a whipped cream topping. For this Easy Banoffee Cream Pie I used a graham cracker crust because it’s quick, familiar, and balances the sweet filling. Vanilla wafers would also work if you prefer a more pudding-like match, but graham crackers kept the sweetness in check.

The toffee layer is the hero here. While you can make dulce de leche by simmering a sealed can of sweetened condensed milk, I opted for the store-bought shortcut. It’s convenient and safe, and it still delivers that deep, caramel flavor that defines the pie.

My twist on the classic was to lighten the texture of the dulce de leche by folding it into room-temperature cream cheese. The cream cheese adds a silky, slightly tangy softness that cuts the sweetness and gives the filling a creamier mouthfeel — ideal if you’re craving banana cream pie rather than something overly dense.

The filling whips up easily: cream cheese, dulce de leche, a bit of brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Beat until smooth and fluffy, then spread it into the cooled graham crust. Top with banana slices — I used three large bananas — arranged however you like. The banana layer gets a generous blanket of softly whipped cream; whip to medium peaks so the topping is light and holds gentle swirls rather than stiff piping.

For texture and a hint of extra toffee flavor, sprinkle toffee chips over the whipped cream before chilling. The pie benefits from refrigeration: allow at least four hours so the filling sets and the slices cut cleanly. If you’re impatient (guilty as charged), slices eaten sooner will still taste fantastic but may be a little softer and less tidy.

Because chocolate and banana are a beloved pairing, I also prepare a quick Nutella drizzle at serving time: loosen a spoonful of Nutella with a teaspoon or two of milk, warm briefly and stir until pourable. Drizzle just before serving for an elegant finishing touch.

The result is a pie that feels light on the palate despite its indulgent components: the dulce de leche melts with the tang of cream cheese, banana adds fresh flavor and the whipped cream ties everything together. Served with extra banana slices and a drizzle of Nutella syrup, it makes a show-stopping dessert that’s easier to make than it looks.

Easy Banoffee Cream Pie

Yield:
8 -12 servings

Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons melted salted butter

For the filling:

  • 1 (8 ounce) block cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 (13.4 ounce) can dulce de leche (about 1 1/4 cups)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large bananas

For the topping:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • Toffee chips for sprinkling
  • Additional banana slices for garnish

For the Nutella sauce:

  • Nutella
  • Milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and melted butter until combined.
  3. Press crumbs into a 9″ deep dish pie pan and bake 8 minutes to set. Cool completely.
  4. Beat cream cheese, dulce de leche, brown sugar and salt until smooth and fluffy, 2–3 minutes. Spread into cooled crust.
  5. Slice bananas about 1/4″ thick and arrange over the filling.
  6. Whip heavy cream to medium peaks, adding confectioner’s sugar as it thickens. Spread gently over bananas, sealing edges to limit browning.
  7. Sprinkle toffee chips over the top and refrigerate at least 4 hours for the best, clean slices.
  8. To make Nutella sauce, stir a tablespoon of Nutella with a teaspoon of milk and warm briefly (just a few seconds). Stir until pourable and drizzle over slices at serving time.

Notes

If you crush graham crackers in a food processor, add the brown sugar and melted butter and pulse until combined. A store-bought graham crust also works and saves time. I prefer Philadelphia brand cream cheese for a smooth texture.

Arrange bananas however you like; three large bananas worked well but you can use more. For the Nutella drizzle I used about 1 tablespoon Nutella and 1 teaspoon milk for a light drizzle per several servings — adjust to suit your portion size.

The pie stores well in the refrigerator up to three days. Leaving it uncovered keeps the whipped topping intact, but be mindful of strong refrigerator odors. Waiting the full chill time yields neater slices, though the pie is delicious even if served sooner.

Enjoy a creamy, banana-forward take on banoffee with a simple shortcut and a tangy cream cheese twist that brightens the texture.
