Roo Nutrition
My family loves meat, and I try to source the best quality I can. Growing up with a father who hunted, game meats like deer and wild boar were common at our table alongside beef, chicken, and pork. Now that I don’t have the same access to fresh game, Roo Nutrition has been a great option. They deliver high-quality meats straight to your door without a subscription.

We’ve ordered two boxes from Roo Nutrition and there are several reasons I appreciate them:
- Packages arrived fully frozen, even in hot weather.
- Packaging is solid and doesn’t leak; the meat looked fresh when thawed.
- They offer a wide variety — from bones for broth to game and organ meats, along with conventional beef, pork, and chicken.
- The meat is lean, flavorful, and often ready to cook without extra trimming.
- Roo Nutrition makes efforts to source ethically raised meats.
- There’s no subscription requirement: order what you want, when you want, with free shipping and competitive pricing.

Back to the Wild Boar Meatball Taco Bowl
I’m a big fan of wild boar — it has a natural smoky, savory character that elevates simple preparations. It’s especially delicious formed into meatballs. One of our favorite variations is taco-seasoned meatballs, which work perfectly over a quinoa taco bowl.

For the meatballs I use a quality taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade, ideally without added sugar), chopped cilantro, a little lime zest, salt if the seasoning lacks it, an egg, and gluten-free breadcrumbs. Bake the meatballs and serve them over a quinoa and black bean base with corn, tomatoes, and avocado. Add spicy mayo or your favorite sauce if you like extra heat.

Making Organic and Wild Meat Work for a Budget
Many people think organic or wild meats are out of reach, but with planning they can fit into a household budget. I pay attention to portion sizes and pair smaller amounts of high-quality meat with filling, nutritious sides. For example, the wild boar used in this recipe cost $12.67 and yielded 12 meatballs, serving 3–4 people. With quinoa and other ingredients, the total meal cost stayed under $20 while delivering good nutrition and flavor.
