White Chocolate Strawberry Valentine's Day Puppy Chow from @crunchycreamysw

Last year I focused my Valentine’s recipes on rich dark chocolate desserts for two — my Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes and Chocolate Mousse for Two remain favorites for special date nights. This year the kids asked for something cute, pink, and shareable, so I created a Valentine’s-friendly twist on a classic snack: White Chocolate Strawberry Puppy Chow.

White Chocolate Strawberry Puppy Chow brings together everything we love about holiday treats: cozy, shareable, and sweet with a hint of berry. My husband calls it muddy buddies and always reaches for seconds; the kids love the colorful M&M’s and crunchy cereal. It’s easy to make, quick to assemble, and perfect for movie night or gifting in small bags to friends and classmates.

To add Valentine flair, I coat Chex cereal with melted white chocolate, flavor it with strawberry extract, and tint it lightly with red gel food coloring for a soft pink hue. After the chocolate sets, toss the pieces in powdered sugar and fold in pink and red M&M’s for a festive pop of color. The result is crunchy, sweet, and bursting with playful Valentine vibes.

Because this recipe is so flexible, you can easily adjust the flavors. Swap strawberry extract for cherry or another berry extract if you prefer, or use flavored white melts for an extra layer of taste. The mixture packs beautifully into cellophane bags and looks adorable with a simple printable tag or framed printable sign on a dessert table.

This treat is kid-approved and a hit with adults who want a nostalgic snack. It works well as a party favor, classroom treat, or casual dessert for a romantic night in — pair it with a movie, a cozy blanket, and your favorite partner or family to enjoy together. I also made a simple printable you can download and tuck into gift bags or frame as a small decoration for your Valentine spread.

The recipe takes just minutes to prepare and yields about five cups of puppy chow. It’s quick to scale up for a larger gathering. Below you’ll find a clean, easy-to-follow recipe section including ingredients, instructions, and nutrition facts, presented clearly so you can recreate this Valentine’s Day snack with minimal fuss.
