How to Bake Rainbow Trout. This simple baked rainbow trout recipe is easy to prepare and full of flavor. Season the trout, wrap it in foil, and bake until cooked through. We love how tender and aromatic it turns out. My husband even caught these trout himself despite heavy snow on the river, which made the meal extra special.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs trout
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- sesame oil (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- non-stick spray (for foil)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a flat baking pan with foil and lightly spray the foil with non-stick oil.
-
Clean the rainbow trout, remove any scales or guts if needed, and pat the fish dry with paper towels.
-
Season the trout inside and out with garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Be sure to rub extra seasoning into the cavity for fuller flavor. Spread the softened butter over the fish and drizzle with a little roasted sesame oil.
-
Wrap the fish in foil and place it on the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
Notes
This recipe is written for a single trout (about 2 lbs). Adjust ingredient amounts and baking time as needed for additional fish or different sizes.
