This week we picked our first tomato. I bought the plant with a specific variety name, but I just call them baby tomatoes—I’m not much of a gardener. Still, it’s exciting to see the first fruit of the season.
My husband was so thrilled with that first tomato he woke me up to show me. I admit I didn’t share his level of enthusiasm at the moment, but I love that gardening has become his new passion. He’s even asked for gardening books for Father’s Day, which is a big change from his usual reading about cars and off-roading.
We also have a lot of corn coming in. I’m honestly surprised at how quickly and healthily it grew. We started it from seed, and in past years our success with seeds has been limited. This year the timing must have been right, because the plants took off.
How is your garden doing? Have you been able to harvest anything yet?
